Brilliant linux patch?

How can you reduce the average latency of your desktop by about 60 times? Well, there is a new linux kernel patch which does just that. Published earlier today:

The ~200 Line Linux Kernel Patch That Does Wonders

I can't wait to see the effects on my machine. Seeing is believing as they say.

Cheers.

Self-motivation

...is something that I lack recently. However, today after a whole day of coding (pop3 server), quite surprisingly I came back home with the clear aim. It was to find out why my Python solution to breathalyzer was corrupted. At first I thought about sharing my problem on dP for instance. So I opened the editor just to have a final look at what's in there. I was about to decide what to ask for exactly. Then I started making the code less smelly and embarrassing. It became a little bit tidier, a bit prettier and more understandable. I kept on going. One thing led to another and here I go! It works!

I've just sent it to PuzzleBot and am waiting for response. Will see.

Bla, bla, bla. Again...
Your breathalyzer submission to Facebook could not be built/run
Annoying thing: trying to figure out why something that works well for me isn't working for you. Well, I will have another go then.

Rider on the storm

New Millenium has come for my dP reputation earlier today. As I write this it reached 1,004 points: it took me 3 months and 8 days, 19 questions, 56 answers and 645 votes (inc. 15 down) to get there. On the way I got 3 silver and 10 bronze badges. Personally I am particularly happy with that answer of mine about AI - I hope it was helpful to someone.

What now? Today I plan to code a prototype of P system (i.e. last post self-styled hero) in Java and 8 Queen Problem solver in Lisp. Wish me luck.

Cheers.

Hi there! I am a living cell simulation...

...and you may call me P. Watch me: I am able to evolve and compute whatever you ask me to. My applications are in biology, biomedicine, population dynamics, ecosystems, economics, optimisation, computer graphics, linguistics, compuer science, cryptography... you name it.
Nice introduction but I still don't get it. Who are you?

I can't stop myself from posting it here:

And that's how you pick up chicks. Nothing fancy folks, just pure Math ;)

About Me

Who am I?

My name is Jerzy Kozyra, but most people just call me Jenny (thus J3ny in l33t). By the time of writing this post I was Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence undergraduate student at Nottingham University, UK. Also I had just finished my industrial placement program being held at Ocado Ltd where I was part of Analytics and Optimisation team being involved in plenty of interesting projects. The time had come however to continue with my final year at Uni which means that while you read that I am probably busy with my major individual project in the fascinating field of AI.

Just for the record: I am a Java programmer with some experience in C/C++, Python and Haskell. Moreover I have made a decision to have a proper bite of Common Lisp as it is so popular amongst artificial intelligence programmers. Hopefully this is not the last time I mention this, otherwise it would probably mean that I failed with mastering it…

Why do I blog?

No particular reason here. I just like the idea of having some sort of diary which would record phases of my personal development. Something that I can get back to in order to review my thoughts and notes from the past. On top of that I believe that it is much better for me to write than to waste time on some pointless computer games (yeah right! As though I was considering them pointless…) or to mindlessly browse the web.

Why the heck is there a master Yoda picture in here?

Size matters not, ... Look at me.
Judge me by size, do you?
Because master Yoda is simply awesome! - and I came to that conclusion during Star Wars marathon we had with my girlfriend (very supportive in my geekiness by the way). Just think about it: Yoda is truly a master. Firstly: he is extraordinary and secondly: incredibly powerful. On the other hand despite his great wisdom and Force within him he is neither vain nor arrogant which makes him a perfect teacher as well. What you can see on the right is my humble tribute to the master.

You can read it as follows:
Genius his indeed I admire.

How can you contact me?

Best way is email jurek.kozyra at gmail.com
I would be more than happy with any comments and opinions.
Feel free to drop me a line or two - no matter how critical or not it is.

Cheers.

Hello World!

You are reading now the first post of what I believe will soon become regular blog about me being craftily seduced by artificial intellgience together with computer science romance and everything else that will come on the way.
